Cumberland Lodge August 2023

Our student retreat to Cumberland Lodge was a great success. Students enjoyed a good training session with Katalytik, using the CliftonStrengths assessment to look at managing the supervisor/student relationship. The training session involved building air-powered rocket cars, which the team enjoyed! Other sessions involved a presentation on 'Entrepreneurial Mindset' delivered by Jerry Allen and 'Starting your career today' led by Adam Dubis. The students also enjoyed time to socialise with their peers from across the CDT.

Joint AI Health CDT Conference

At the start of May, CDT students and staff attended the second Joint AI Health CDT Conference in York. The conference was a good opportunity for our PhD researchers to showcase their research through oral presentations and poster sessions and network with fellow researchers from Edinburgh University, Leeds University and Imperial College London. A special mention to both Victoria Smith for a great presentation on ‘Unlocking Pharmacokinetic Literature with Natural Language Processing’ and to Tina Yao on ‘End-to-end Deep Learning Segmentation Pipeline for a Registry of Single Ventricle Patients’. Many congratulations also to Florence Townend for winning a best poster prize for work on multimodal data fusion. May 2023
