What do Professional Research Investment Strategy Managers do?

Professional Research Investment Strategy Manager describes someone within the University or similar environments who is predominantly working to enable the delivery and growth of large research investments.

Who are Professional Research Investment Strategy Managers?

PRISMs have a diverse range of positions and responsibilities and the term captures the role's breadth. It distinguishes them from the established roles of “Research Managers / Research Development Managers” who are often pre-award focused (developing and costing new research proposals), and “Project Managers” who can be working to a clearly defined brief and focused on deliverables.

What qualifications or skills do you need to be a Professional Research Investment Strategy Manager?

Many staff who undertake these roles have a wide range of skills and experience. Whilst not required, it is common for PRISMs to have experience in either research, research management, or supporting large projects, often in a Higher Education or related sector.
