Predicting Language Outcome and Recovery After Stroke (PLORAS)

PLORAS is a research project looking at recovery of language difficulties after stroke (aphasia).  Our aim is to give future stroke survivors prediction about their aphasia recovery.  We are based at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging, part of the UCL Institute of Neurology in London.

People with aphasia can have difficulty with speaking, understanding, reading and writing.  It can be a traumatic and life-changing experience.  They often want to know, “Will I recover?  How much will I recover?  How long will this take?”  It is currently extremely difficult to answer this.  Our project aims to solve this problem.
