Education

We are Positron Emission Tomography (PET) reference site for Siemens, GE Healthcare, Advanced Accelerator Applications/Bracco and TexRAD.  We run Europe's only cardiac hybrid imaging course giving Level II accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular CT. We are the only site in Europe able to fully train Rubidium PET to ARSAC recommendations.

The UCL GE sponsored Level II Cardiac CT and Hybrid Imaging Course. The course had SCCT Board approval to train to independent practice and was taught by the UCH team and Sam Wann from Wisconsin Heart Hospital and sits on the Board of the SCCT.

We also run the regional cardiac CT education the "Pan London cardiac CT". We host the PET component of the International League against Epilepsy's Advanced Neuro Imaging course which is performed within the Department.

We provided the UK 1st PET/MRI course in November 2012 sponsored by Siemens. This was attended by 130 individuals that heard over 20 lectures by expert speakers.

We provide formal education to trainees at the University of Bologna for Professor Fanti and to multiple sites in the Gulf through the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Health and Oman Health Authority. We are only one of 2 UK sites that train Cardiology, Radiologists and Nuclear Medicine Physicians in Cardiac PET. Apart from our own 3 Registrars we train, we provide additional training for trainees from other UK Deaneries.

The department has the UK Training Director for Nuclear Medicine, the Chair of the SAT Nuclear Medicine committee, and is represented on Educational Committees of the Royal College of Radiologists, Royal College of Physicians, British Institute of Radiology, National Cancer Research Institute, British Nuclear Medicine Society and the European Association of Nuclear Medicine.
