We invite papers on any area of research pertaining to English linguistics, including syntax, morphology, semantics, pragmatics, language change, sociolinguistics, etc.
Abstracts must be between 300 and 500 words long (excluding references) and must be fully anonymous.
The deadline for submission is 30 November 2017; the online submission system (EasyChair) will open in July 2017.
The abstracts will be reviewed anonymously and notification of acceptance will be sent out by the end of January 2018.
Call for Workshop Proposals
Up to six workshops will be held on the afternoon of the first day of the conference, 17 July 2018, and are expected to last up to three hours. If you would like to convene a workshop, please send your proposal directly to the organizers at isle5.conference@ucl.ac.uk.
The proposal must contain the following:
- the workshop title and the names of organizer(s)
- a short description of the workshop (400 - 800 words)
- an outline of the procedure for selecting papers and participants
- format of the workshop (please note that in principle workshops should follow the pattern of the main conference in assigning the customary twenty minutes per presentation plus ten minutes for discussion).
The deadline for submission of workshop proposals is 15 September 2017. The convenors will be notified of the acceptance of their workshop (and time allotted) by 15 November 2017.
Once a proposal is accepted, it will be the responsibility of the workshop organisers to fully organise their workshop, including issuing a call for papers, reviewing and selecting abstracts, and so on. Once a workshop has been put together the organisers will present their programme to us for inclusion in the overall conference programme.
