Revised Disability Equality Scheme

Dec 2009- Dec 2012

UCL 's new Disability Equality Scheme aims to promote equality of opportunity and positive attitudes towards disabled people; foster an environment where disabled people can flourish; meet the needs of disabled staff and students and encourage their full participation within the UCL community.

This scheme sets priorities for the next three years and is based on knowledge gathered during UCL 's first DES. The priorities are:

•  To promote greater awareness of the needs of disabled people (students, staff and visitors) and to promote greater awareness of the practical measures to promote disability equality at UCL

•  To continue to improve priority areas of the UCL campus to make it more accessible to all staff, students and visitors

•  To provide coordinated and seamless support to disabled staff

•  To improve staff disability disclosure rate to the sector average

The Scheme is available at: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/hr/equalities/disability/ucl_initiative.php

If you require the scheme in an alternative format please contact the Disability Centre (disability@ucl.ac.uk)

The continued input from disabled people is crucial to the successful development of  Disability Equality Schemes.  Different ways in which people can pass on their views are being established and information about how to get involved will appear on this page.  In the meantime if you have any comments about the Scheme please contact disability@ucl.ac.uk
