Absolutely Fabulously Four
15 September 2011

UCL Advances, the university’s centre for
entrepreneurship and business interaction turned 4 this year and to celebrate
the successes and exponential growth (in personnel and in support activities
offered), the department threw a party full of balloons, party poppers, music,
cake, ice cream and (short) words from the Vice-Provost (Enterprise), Steve
Caddick, and from the Executive Director of UCL Advances, Tim Barnes.
With upbeat funky jazz music from The Organic Jam keeping the mood lively, guests were welcomed with a party hat, party popper and blowouts and eagerly tucked into homemade cakes from Elizabeth Caton Food and Wine, jelly and ice cream, washed down with drinks of alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties.
The Vice-Provost (Enterprise), Steve Caddick, welcomed the guests and gave a short word about the growth and development of UCL Advances from its early days, as headed by the dynamic Tim Barnes. With enterprise as a main strand of the University’s plans, UCL Advances now takes on an even more significant role in delivering training and relevant opportunities to students, staff and external partners.
Not to be outdone, Executive Director of UCL Advances,
Tim Barnes, quickly summarized the four years with specific highlights from the
2010-2011 year. We took a lightning fast tour through buzz-worthy activities
like EPIC, Citrus Saturday, Ideastock, StartUp Summer and many more in the span
of a few short minutes. Delivering high-quality and relevant work has become
the norm at UCL Advances and we’re looking forward to what lies ahead. Follow
