UCL Open Day Travel Bursary

This year, UCL will be running in-person undergraduate open days on Friday 28 June and Saturday 29 June 2024. We have introduced a travel bursary to help cover the travel costs for prospective undergraduate students from underrepresented groups.

Eligibility

In order to be eligible, students must be in Year 12 and attending a state school or college in the UK, live outside of Greater London and must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  1. are eligible for free school meals
  2. are currently or have experience of being in care (e.g. local authority care, foster care, residential care)
  3. are a young carer
  4. are estranged from parent(s)
  5. are a forced migrant (e.g. refugee or asylum seeker)
  6. are from the Gypsy, Roma or Traveller community

As the Travel Bursary is limited, you will be awarded points based on the number of criteria that you meet. Applicants with the highest numbers of points will be offered the bursary.

Application

Applications for the Open Day Travel Bursary have now closed and will not reopen until 2025.

Important information

  • Only costs for public transport will be covered (standard class travel only).
  • Reimbursement only applies to eligible prospective students. Your travel receipt should only include your individual ticket and be uploaded as proof to the application. Parents or carers travel should be booked separately and will not be eligible for reimbursement.
  • Once you have attended the Open Day, payment will be reimbursed after the event. Failure to attend the Open Day will result in no reimbursement.
