About the events

Bring Your Family to University Days are a series of free one-day events, aimed at providing information, advice and guidance about university to young people and their parents and carers, through fun and interactive sessions on UCL's Bloomsbury campus in central London.

These events will include activities such as subject taster lectures, panels, support sessions for parents/carers, campus tours and the opportunity to talk to current university students. A FREE packed lunch will be provided.

When and where will the events take place?

We are offering primary and secondary school students the opportunity to visit the UCL campus with their families during spring and summer 2026, with the content of each day tailored towards that particular year group.

Spring dates

  • Primary School Day (Years 5 and 6) – Saturday 18 April 2026
  • Secondary School Day (Years 7–11)  Saturday 16 May 2026

Summer dates

  • Primary School Day (Years 5 and 6) – Saturday 20 June 2026
  • Secondary School Day (Years 7–11) – Saturday 18 July 2026

All events will take place at UCL's Bloomsbury campus (Gower St, London WC1E 6AE) between 10am and 3:10pm (registration will open from 9:30am). More information will be provided to those who are shortlisted to attend the event.

Who can take part

In order to be eligible for a place on Bring Your Family to University:

  • At least one young person in your party must be in the target year group for the event.  For Primary events this is Years 5 and 6; for Secondary events, Years 7–11.
  • At least one young person in the eligible year group must attend a state school in the UK.

Bring your Family to University is an Access and Widening Participation initiative. Places are limited. Participants for this event will be selected using the shortlisting criteria found on the Who We Work With webpage to prioritise young people from the least represented groups. Your family unit will be awarded points based on the number of criteria that you meet.

Capacity limitations

We can accommodate a maximum of six people per family unit. Each unit must have a minimum of one adult and a maximum of two adults over the age of 18. A minimum of one young person and a maximum of four young people is permitted per unit. If your family unit exceeds six, please contact us at wp.pre16@ucl.ac.uk before completing the application form.

Can young people who are not in the target year group attend?

Young people under the age of 18 who are not in target year groups for these events are welcome to attend. However, the content will be most suited to the age and educational stage of the target year groups for this event.

Will there be crossover between the parent and carer sessions for the primary and secondary events?

If you are an adult over the age of 18 and are planning to attend both the primary school and secondary school events, please note that there will be crossover in the content of the parent/carer sessions.

Can toddlers and babies attend?

Younger children who are not of school age are welcome to attend as part of your family group (please note, they will count towards the total group size). However, please bear in mind that UCL has a limited number of baby changing facilities and there is no guaranteed access to a microwave or a quiet, private space for breastfeeding or expressing milk.
