Join the day of action for Palestine: ceasefire now - Saturday 4 November

UCL UCU condemns all attacks on civilians, including the attacks by Hamas on October 7th and subsequent assaults by the Israeli Defence Forces on Gaza and in the West Bank. We call an immediate ceasefire to prevent further casualties and for the immediate release of all hostages
We warmly encourage members to support the Day of Action for Palestine on Saturday 4 November. Actions are taking place all over the country and in Central London, so please find one you can join.
Members will have also heard that UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) decided to suspend their expert advisory group on EDI following a public attack on two colleagues by the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Skills, Michelle Donelan. UCU believes this is a major intervention by a Government Minister contrary to basic principles of academic freedom and free speech. Therefore, UCU is calling on members to consider resigning from voluntary positions with UKRI if the body does not change its stance.
Tomorrow Saturday 4 November at 1.30pm, London Region UCU has called a static protest outside of the UKRI offices in Tothill Street SW1 to call on the UKRI to stand up to Government bullying. Protestors are then asked to converge on Trafalgar Square for 3pm.
