Protest for equality for BAME security staff and for a safe and accessible campus, Monday Dec 4, 2pm

1 December 2023

Following our Branch policy to support campaigns by our outsourced colleagues at UCL, we would urge members to attend the protest at 2pm on Monday 4th December at the UCL Print Room Cafe.

STOP THE CUTS: Protest for equality for BAME security staff and for a safe and accessible campus
2pm Monday 4th December @ UCL Print Room Cafe

In recent months, the outsourcing company Bidvest Noonan has started to:

  • Erode workers sick leave entitlements and break with UCL's promise of "parity" between directly employed and outsourced staff
  • Rely heavily on agency staff, which prevents permanent staff from taking on much-needed overtime and allows Bidvest to cut costs by using staff on worse terms and conditions
  • Meanwhile the security restructure has taken experienced, long-serving staff away from their permanent desks meaning that medical deliveries are going missing and those with disabilities have been left unable to access buildings.

Please join the protest if you can to call for better conditions and for UCL to move these workers back in-house.
