UCL-UCU: Calling notice for Emergency General Meeting, 1-2pm, Wednesday 05 April

3 April 2023

This is a calling notice for an Emergency General Meeting at 1-2pm on Wednesday 05 April to discuss the re-ballot results and formal consultation

UCU Rising

This message is to give notice of an Emergency General Meeting for this coming week on Wednesday 5 April, 1-2pm.

Please register to receive a zoom link for the meeting.

The meeting is to discuss a) the reballot results for industrial action, that will be known by then, and b) the formal consultation on the two disputes (USS and Four Fights) that will be going out to members from HQ.

As you may be aware, the Branch Delegates Meeting on Wednesday 29 March voted in favour of formally consulting on the USS dispute, but against formally consulting on the Four Fights (pay and conditions) dispute because the ‘offer’ on the latter was so meagre and implied a 15% pay cut.

The HEC has nevertheless voted to consult on both disputes, with a recommendation being sent out for colleagues to vote ‘no’ (reject) on the Four Fights consultation, and to ‘note’ on the USS consultation.

At the same time the Branch Delegates Meeting voted resoundingly in favour of a Marking and Assessment Boycott starting in April, if the reballot is successful. If that reballot is successful, it is also a formal vote for action.

We need to discuss both of these issues and what this Branch should do/say to members about them.
