UCL-UCU: Strike report - Day 1 (Wed 1 Dec) + virtual picket today (Thurs 2 Dec) from 11:30

Day 1: Brief report

At UCL there were over 100 staff out on pickets, with picket lines at all main entrances on the Bloomsbury campus and many departments and buildings beyond.

Student support was notable, with many standing in solidarity with staff on picket lines.

At 12:30 our strike meeting venue saw a packed staff / student organising meeting, which was followed by a well-attended strike meeting.

Day 2: Join the virtual picket (Thu 2 Dec)

This morning saw the resumption of picketing across campus and a delegation visited the UUK meeting being held at the Royal College of Physicians building, who were able to enjoy the SOAS samba band.

At 11:30 today, on an experimental basis, we invite members at home to join a virtual picket line, where we hope to receive reports from some of the physical pickets across campus. Please click here to register for the meeting.

Picketing will conclude today shortly before 13:00 in time for the strike committee meeting at the Building Centre, 26 Store Street.

Day 3: Defend Education march and rally (Fri 3 Dec)

Picketing will continue from 08:00.

Colleagues are encouraged to attend the Defend Education march and rally, which will assemble from 12:30 Tavistock Square, departing at 13:30 to march to City via Bloomsbury and Aldwych, and concluding with an outdoor rally at Bank.
