Calling notice for UCU EGM, Thursday 1 October, 15:00-16:00

24 September 2020

This is a formal calling notice for an Extraordinary General Meeting of UCL UCU which will be held on Thursday 1 October from 15:00 - 16:00 (facilitated using Zoom conferencing - details to follow).

The meeting has been convened to allow members discuss amendments to motions for UCU Congress and to select up to 8 delegates to attend. We will also address any urgent matters of local concern.

Congress is the national decision-making body of UCU, and was postponed from Easter.

It has two sections, a whole-union 'Congress' and a Higher Education-specific 'Sector Conference'.

The current set of motions submitted to Congress are published on UCU's website. We are entitled to submit 1 amendment to a Congress motion and 2 to HE Sector Conference motions. Amendments are limited to 75 words (plus instructions).

We are entitled to submit late motions to either Congress or Sector Conference of up to 150 words. In order to help expedite business, if a motion is no longer relevant we can also vote to withdraw it.

Congress will be held as a three-day on-line meeting from 28-30 October.

Colleagues who wish to attend as a delegate from UCL UCU, or to submit a late motion or amendment for discussion, should reply to this email in the first instance.

Further details to follow.
