UCL-UCU: PLANNED STRIKE DAYS CANCELLED on 19 & 20 March 2020

Please be advised that in light of the developing emergency around COVID-19, this afternoon the Executive Committee of UCL UCU agreed to request cancellation of the strike action planned for today, Thursday 19 March and Friday 20 March. This was a difficult decision to take.
The request was sent to the Officers of the UCU Higher Education Committee and has been agreed.
UCU members at UCL will not therefore be taking strike action today, Thursday 19 March and Friday 20 March.
Action Short of a Strike (ASOS) continues. We will be convening an online meeting of members as soon as practical to discuss how to respond to a number of difficult demands currently being placed on colleagues. We are sure you have a lot of questions!
In the meantime we advise members that UCL’s official position is that changes to working from home are expected of staff where possible, but there is a recognition that ‘where possible’ may differ widely due to personal circumstances. There is an ongoing discussion about what alternatives to home working may be feasible, subject to Government advice.
Branch officers met with UCL on Monday and colleagues are continuing to engage with UCL in its forward planning.
