Strike report - day 4 (Thu 28 Nov) & tomorrow's march

28 November 2019

Day 4: brief report Picketing continued across the majority of central UCL sites and campus was noticeably quiet.

Many departments are organising Teach-Outs that are proving popular with staff and students.

Day 5: Friday 29 November

March for Pensions, Pay & Planet
Assemble 11am at Malet Place
March at 12 noon to Westminster
Rally at 2pm in Westminster Central Hall
Speakers from trade unions, climate groups

We call on members to join the strike solidarity demonstration tomorrow, the next major global day of action after 20 September, when 500 protested in the Quad amid major protests across the world.

Very many members have taken strike action at home. In our ballot, over 1,000 UCL UCU members voted for strike action, and many more have followed the strike call. Around 200 people have picketed daily but Friday’s demonstration is an event for everyone to join.

We will be marching with climate action groups of staff, students and school students.

Alongside universities currently on strike in London (City University, Courtauld Institute, Queen Mary, Roehampton, Royal Holloway and UCL) will be groups from universities about to re-ballot their members. We will be marching past Birkbeck, LSHTM, Senate House, SOAS, LSE and Kings to Westminster.

There’s a stewards' meeting at 11am (Waterstones / Tavistock Sq). If you would like to help us organise the march safely, just turn up!
