Evangelos Mazomenos

I am currently a Lecturer at the Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering and my research is on computer vision and artificial intelligence for next-generation surgical and healthcare robotic systems. I work on data science for computer- and robotic-assisted interventions.

I am a Co-Investigator in the UCL Wellcome/EPSRC Centre for Surgical and Interventional Sciences and the NIH-NIBIB “A magnetic capsule endoscope for colonoscopy in patients with inflammatory bowel disease” project and the EIC H2020 FET “Autonomous multimodal implantable endoscopic capsule for the gastrointestinal tract”. Previously, I have held an EPSRC platform fellowship (2015-16) and did research on 4 EU Projects (CHIRON, STROKEBACK, CASCADE, ENDOO).

I am a module leader for ENGF0003 “Mathematical Modelling and analysis 1” in the Beng/Meng Biomed Eng programme, and MPHY0047 in MSc in Medical Robotics and AI.

I did my PhD at the School of Electronics and Computer Science (ECS), University of Southampton, and I was awarded the IET Leslie H. Paddle Scholarship in 2009.
