Emanuele Colleoni

I started my studies at Politecnico di Milano, Italy, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Automation and Control Engineering (September 2017) and a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering (April 2019). I developed my master thesis within the Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC) at University College London, focusing my project on deep learning based techniques for 2-D pose estimation of surgical tools in laparoscopic videos.

Currently, I hold a funded PhD studentship position at CMIC.  My research covers the employment of surgical robot simulators as well as deep learning techniques for 3-D pose estimation of surgical tools, that is a critical but challenging step towards computer assisted interventions.
