STEaPP delivers training on evaluation methods for BEIS staff

19 May 2020

Dr Ine Steenmans is leading the development and delivery of a training programme on methods for evaluating policy-based interventions for staff at the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

Workshop

The training covers theory and practice of recent analytical innovations in the field, and is delivered online using the latest platforms to facilitate activity-based participation.

Dr Ine Steenmans says “It is great for us to be able to deliver high quality learning experience to stakeholders based in government agencies as well as students who join us for our flagship MPA programme. As a result of developing and delivering this training we are very confident that we can deliver excellent teaching and learning remotely to a variety of audiences.

"It is great to be able to deliver such a high quality learning experience to partners based in government agencies. At STEaPP, we spend a lot of time reflecting on what works, for whom and in what way when we set out to train policy leaders for the future. It’s been such fun to work with BEIS who share that kind of mindset, and together adapt some of the latest teaching practices to deliver excellent teaching and learning remotely and to a variety of audiences. This is something we continuously work on as a foundation for our flagship MPA programme, and it’s exciting to look ahead and think creatively about where this could be taken."

Professor Joanna Chataway, Head of Department at STEaPP, said: "It has been such a pleasure to work with Ine, other UCL staff and BEIS colleagues on this training. We are at a pilot stage of the training at the moment but the feedback so far is good and we look forward to developing the programme and continuing to deliver it over the coming months."
