Engineering advice for policy

We have a programme of ethnographic inquiry into the way civil servant engineers operate in providing engineering advice in government. This seeks to understand how engineering advice operates, how it is similar to or different from other sources of technical expertise (e.g. science advice) and the extent to which particular context of engineering in a national capacity or the way ministries are formed shape outcomes.
