Rex Galbraith is an Honorary Reader in the Department of Statistical Science at UCL. He joined the department in 1967, was Head of Department from 1990 to 1996, and retired in 2007. He has an MSc in Mathematics from the University of New Zealand an a DSc in Statistics from the University of London. He has been Business Manager of the Biometrika Trust since 1978.
Rex has a long standing interest in applications of probability and statistics to science, and the interplay between statistics and science. He has contributed to a variety of fields, particularly to the theory and application of fission track analysis for geological thermal histories and provenance studies, optically stimulated luminescence dating, and geochronology in general.
