Case Study 3: Reward and Benefits
The results of the UCL staff survey were analysed and influenced a range of initiatives.
It was noted that staff had become less aware of the benefits available to them, which form a significant element of the overall reward package. As a result we refreshed and relaunched our benefits page to help ensure existing arrangements are clearer.
We conducted a survey to gain a better understanding of what staff thought of current arrangements and what they wanted to see from their benefit package going forward. Feedback to the survey outlined that there was an appetite for new benefits, but some reservations around incurring any additional costs to UCL.
Following from this we launched a new health insurance scheme which staff had requested and we are now launching the availability of dental and health cashplans with one of our existing suppliers. These schemes, in common with many of our benefits, do not incur cost to UCL and allow staff to benefit from discounted rates compared to what they may pay on an individual basis.
We have also recently launched the Provost's Excellence Awards scheme to help ensure exceptional contributions from staff across UCL can be recognised. The deadline for nominations is the 18th September and we are looking forward to considering nominations prior to the awards ceremony in December.
