Artist's Statement

‘The Physical is Forming’ is an on-going series of paintings begun in 2015. It views painterly language and by extension human expression, as intertwined with an external world, corporality, and the rhythm of natural cycles. The paintings included in the series, form an intimate diary that meditates on the nuanced forms this relationship takes. As a whole, it directs attention to how human expression and a physical world, frame, overlay and give texture to one another in continuously evolving ways. Within the series, these ideas manifest through paint being used to cast different weather-like moods; to shift temporal and spatial perspectives and to allow a viewer's thoughts to bleed between inner, and outer worlds.
