To mark the start of the Slade’s 150th anniversary year, we will be hosting an online launch event on 4th October, which will mark the start of the celebrations and introduce the events that will follow through the year.
As part of the event, we are excited to reveal that we will be launching the new Slade One Fund. This will provide a pool of funding to meet the needs of Slade students, supporting our strategic priority to ensure fair and equal access to, and participation in, art education.
There will be an exclusive showing of the trailer for the Slade 150 documentary film. As the Slade marks 150 years, the documentary will track key moments of the 150 years, highlighting transformations, firsts, and definitive moments along the way. Through interviews, archives, artworks, and filmography, the documentary will shed light on the Slade’s present through the prism of the past, and look to the future, exploring the Slade’s role at the vanguard of art research and education.
The launch event will include keynotes from Slade Director, Professor Kieren Reed; UCL President & Provost, Dr Michael Spence AC; Emeritus Professor of Fine Art, Phyllida Barlow; Slade alumnus, Alvaro Barrington and Executive Dean, Faculty of Arts & Humanities, Professor Stella Bruzzi FBA.
