Dryden Goodwin led the ‘Drawing Breath’ workshop for Better Bankside Clean Air Day on 15 June 2023, exploring our relationship to the air we breathe and our interdependent embrace with it.

Participants looked at how a body might look and move while breathing either calmly or laboured - then shifting focus to their own bodies, the feeling and internalised sensation of different rhythms of breath. Wonderful drawings were made and conversations took place.

The workshop followed a talk in the morning at Tate Modern, where Dryden spoke about his project ‘Breathe’ at the ‘Climate Network Think-In’ in discussion alongside clean air ambassador Julie Tucker, urban planner Amandeep Kellay, and ‘Breathe’ producer Lucy Wood for Invisible Dust.

The workshop was made possible with the support of the Slade School of Fine Art and the UCL Knowledge Exchange Programme, with the help of flautist Francis Moore.
