Quantum Sensors and Standards

The sensitivity of quantum systems to tiny variations in their environment makes them excellent tools for measurement, with precision at levels of single molecules or electrons.

This research aims to understand the fundamental limits of quantum sensors and metrology; and to develop next-generation sensors and standards exploiting quantum mechanical effects to yield enhanced performance.

Potential applications range from healthcare to space and defence technologies.
