TITLE: Quantum Industry Talks - Quantum Computing Hardware

ABSTRACT

Join Peter Mountney, Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence at UCL and UCLQ member, for a series of talks on the latest industry-led developments and advances in quantum technology.

Aimed at those in research and working in the quantum sector, these short talks delivered by industry players from IBM, Microsoft, Volkswagen, BT, and others, will explore different quantum sectors including: computing hardware, computing software, computing applications, security and sensing.

Our first talks in this series explores the advances and development of quantum computing hardware:

Benchmarking and Enabling Near-term Noisy Quantum Hardware

Nick Bronn

Research Staff Member, Experimental Quantum Computing at IBM TJ Watson Research Center

At IBM, Nick has been responsible for qubit device design, packaging, and cryogenic measurement, working towards scaling up larger numbers of qubits on a device and integration with novel implementations of microwave and cryogenic hardware.

Quantum computing with silicon transistors

Fernando González Zalba

Lead Quantum Engineer at Quantum Motion Technology
Fernando is the lead quantum engineer at Quantum Motion Technology, a start-up developing a revolutionary technology platform; not just a qubit, but a scalable array of qubits based on the ubiquitous silicon technology already used in smartphones and computers.

Thursday 12 November 12:00-13:00GMT

Both short talks will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q+A.
