I am very pleased to announce that Austin Fowler from Google will be giving a seminar next week on his theoretical work and recent experimental results from the Martinis group at Google. The talk is part of the UCLQ series and will be accessible to all researchers.
Title: Towards fault-tolerant quantum computation
Abstract: Google recently began investing in the construction of, among other things, a fault-tolerant quantum computer. In this talk, I review the current status of this project and describe in detail the theoretical approach on which it is based, namely the surface code. Recent experimental results (http://arxiv.org/abs/1411.7403) will be discussed.
The talk will be 10am to 11am, Thursday 26th February and the location is LT 2 in the Cruciform building.
