Research Interests
My research is focused on developing a solid state quantum memory for use in scaleable quantum computing and quantum networks. My work focuses on coupling superconducting resonators to rare-earth spins in crystals. Utilising the long lifetimes of quantum states in rare-earth spins and coupling them to a superconducting circuit is a potential route to a scaleable hybrid quantum computer. Rare Earth systems have the added advantage of having access to optical transitions which has lead to their proposed use in quantum transducers.
