Kannan Navaratnem is a Member of the Institute of Psychoanalysis and the British Psychoanalytical Society and a psychoanalyst in private practice. He was a Consultant Adult Psychotherapist at the Forest House Psychotherapy Clinic in North East London NHS Foundation Trust where he worked for 25 years and, as a Team Leader/Senior Psychotherapist at the Arbours Crisis Centre for 10 years.
He works as staff group consultant and supervisor for the mental health charity SANE, a clinical seminar group leader, supervisor and tutor at the Tavistock Clinic and, a clinical seminar group leader on the post-foundation year course at the Institute of Psychoanalysis, where he also teaches on the course on the Independent Tradition within British Object-Relations Theories for the qualifying course.
In his other roles, he is the editor of News & Events and Beyond the Couch publications of the Institute of Psychoanalysis and, editor of the Bulletin of the British Psychoanalytical Society. He is a member of the Audiovisual Project Group of the Institute of Psychoanalysis and a member of the organising committee of the European Psychoanalytic Film Festival (EPFF).
