Research Interests

During my PhD, I am focusing on the impact of occupational trauma on family members of high-risk occupational groups, and my PhD has three different components: qualitative research, systematic review, and quantitative research. The overarching aim of this project is to explore the experiences, views, needs, and mental health impact of occupational trauma on family members of high-risk occupational group workers. I started my PhD in January 2021.

My PhD is fully funded by the Turkish Ministry of Education, and I am supervised by Dr Jo Billings and Dr Naomi Glover.

Publications and achievements

I was successful in being awarded a place on the Yale-UCL funded collaborative student exchange programme which I undertook between 18 February 2022 to 18 May 2022. I worked as a visiting researcher at Yale University, in the Trauma and Mental Health Lab under Dr Sarah Lowe’s supervision at that time. During this period, I had chance to be involved in two different research group: Trauma & Mental Health Lab (Dr Sarah Lowe’s lab at the Yale university) and RISK Group (A research group consisting of researchers from different universities such as Yale University, Harvard University, and Brown University), examining the psychological and sociological impact of Hurricane Katrina on survivors.
