11 August 2023

Professor Suzanne Reeves has been appointed as Head of the Research Department of Mental Health of Older People from 1 September 2023.

Professor Gill Livingston and Professor Suzanne Reeves, the Division of Psychiatry

Suzanne is Professor of Old Age Psychiatry and Psychopharmacology. She has been leading the psychiatry teaching for the medical undergraduate students for several years. Her research studies psychotic symptoms in those with neurodegenerative disease and she is the chief investigator for the TOP HAT trial, which investigates a possible treatment for Parkinson’s Hallucinations.

Suzanne will be taking over from Professor Gill Livingston, who will take on the role of Director of Research for the Division of Psychiatry. Gill will also continue in a departmental leadership role as Deputy Director. The Director of Research is a new position and Gill will welcome any feedback about any problems that are experienced in the research process.

The Division Head, Professor Glyn Lewis said: “I would like to thank Gill for her leadership of the department over the past few years. Under her stewardship the department has been extremely successful, has grown substantially and has effectively supported many early career researchers to obtain fellowships and academic posts.

“I am sure that Suzanne will continue to build on these foundations and look forward to working with her.”
