Abstract: It is estimated that 37.6% of children and adolescents in Thailand suffer from a mental disorder. The THRIVE workshop, supported by the British Council and Newton fund, aimed to connect early career researchers from the UK and Thailand to develop project proposals to improve child and adolescent mental health (CAMH). I will present an overview of this 5 day workshop, which will outline the challenges to improving CAMH in low and middle income countries. I will describe my experiences of visiting an intellectual disability and mental health in-patient unit in Bangkok and discuss project proposals developed during the meeting.
