From day one you will focus on your chosen subject area and will be encouraged to develop as an independent learner. Many programmes allow you to take modules from other departments to ensure that you can broaden your understanding of our complex world.

Enjoy cost-effective study

Our degree programmes start at around CAD 45,000 for bachelor’s and CAD 49,000 for master’s, and you can complete your bachelor's degree in just 3 years, and your master's degree in just 1 year. This makes UCL a cost-effective option for studying at a world top 10 university, plus you can graduate and start your career sooner than your Canadian peers! UCL students are also eligible to apply for Canadian Student Loans.

UCL Campuses

UCL’s Bloomsbury campus is located in London’s thriving Knowledge Quarter, where partners organisations include Google, the Alan Turing Institute, the British Museum and the Wellcome Trust. This area of London has a high concentration of museums, libraries and research institutions, making it fertile ground for the development and exchange of academic ideas.

UCL East is the biggest development in UCL's nearly 200-year history. Our East campus on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in addition to our central London locations, offers exciting new multi disciplinary degrees focused on tackling the biggest challenges facing people and our planet.

Undergraduate Entry Requirements

The minimum entry requirements for undergraduate programmes at UCL can be found below. However, specific entry requirements for some programmes may differ and may also be higher. You should refer to the undergraduate prospectus which allows you to choose the relevant programme and then select your country from the list in the International Qualifications sections.

Minimum equivalent entry requirement for A level grades ABB (2024 entry)

Award of one of the following will be considered, please be aware that all schools must have valid credit-granting authority to award Diplomas at the point of certification:

  • Alberta High School Diploma with at least five academic grade 12 subjects, each passed at 83% or higher.
  • British Columbia Senior Secondary Graduation Diploma at least five academic grade 12 subjects, each passed at 83% or higher.
  • Manitoba High School Graduation Diploma with five credits in specialised (S) grade 12 subjects, each passed at 83% or higher.
  • New Brunswick High School Graduation Diploma with at least five academic grade 12 subjects, each passed at 83% or higher.
  • Newfoundland Grade 12 High School Diploma with at least five academic grade 12 subjects, each passed at 83% or higher.
  • North West Territories General High School Diploma with at least five academic grade 12 subjects, each passed at 83% or higher.
  • Nova Scotia High School Completion Certificate with at least five academic level 5 (Honours University Preparatory) subjects or level 4 (University Preparatory) subjects, each passed at 83% or higher.
  • Nunavut General High School Diploma with at least five academic grade 12 subjects, each passed at 83% or higher.
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma with at least six grade 12 U (University) or M (University/College) courses, each passed at 83% or higher.
  • Prince Edward Island High School Graduation Diploma with at least five academic grade 12 subjects, each passed at 83% or higher.
  • Quebec Diplome d'Etudes Collegiales (DEC) / Diploma of Collegial Studies (DCS) with 83% overall.
  • Saskatchewan Five Grade 12/Division IV Standing subjects with 83% each.
  • Yukon Senior Secondary Graduation Diploma with at least five academic grade 12 subjects, each passed at 83% or higher.

Please remember to include your full academic history from secondary school onwards on your UCAS application, this includes listing all subjects you are yet to complete but will be completed by August of the cycle in which you apply.

Your applications will be reviewed based on the education history you submit via UCAS, so it is vital that this is complete at the point you submit your application. UCL does not consider updated qualification information following the submission of your application so in order for us to know all the exams you have/are sitting and how you meet our entrance requirements, you must include this on your UCAS application.

It is common for students in Canada to take Advanced Placement subjects or International Baccalaureate subjects alongside their provincial High School Diploma. Applications from students presenting a mixture of qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Graduate Entry Requirements

Entry to graduate programmes at UCL usually requires either a UK upper second-class (2:1) or a UK lower second-class (2:2) undergraduate degree. Please note entry to some doctoral programmes (e.g. MPhil/PhD) will also require a Master's degree. The entry requirements for individual programmes can be found on the graduate prospectus. The equivalent qualifications from Canada can be found below.

Minimum entry requirements (2024/25 entry)

UPPER SECOND-CLASS (2:1)

The award of any of the following from a recognised institution:

  • 4 year Bachelor's with an overall grade of 77%, a CGPA of 3.3/4.0, CGPA 3.33/4.33, CGPA 3.3/4.3, grade B+, 6.0/9.0, 7/10, or 9/12
  • 3-year Baccalauréat/Bachelors degree from Quebec province, with an overall grade of 77%, a CGPA of 3.3/4.0, CGPA 3.33/4.33, CGPA 3.3/4.3, grade B+, 6.0/9.0, 7/10, or 9/12.
  • 3 year Bachelor's from an other province with an overall average grade of 80%, CGPA of 3.5/4.0 or 7.7/9.0, 8/10, 10/12 (only for entry to UCL taught programmes requiring UK 2:1 Honours)

LOWER SECOND-CLASS (2:2)

The award of any of the following from a recognised institution:

  • 4-year Bachelor's with an overall grade of 73%, CGPA of 3.0/4.0, CGPA of 3.0/4.33, CGPA 3.0/4.3, grade B, 5.0/9.0, 6/10, or 8/12
  • 3-year Baccalauréat/Bachelors degree from Quebec province with an overall grade of 73%, CGPA of 3.0/4.0, CGPA of 3.0/4.33, CGPA 3.0/4.3, grade B, 5.0/9.0, 6/10, or 8/12
  • 3 year Bachelor's from any other province with an overall grade of 77%, a CGPA of 3.3/4.0, CGPA 3.33/4.33, CGPA 3.3/4.3, grade B+, 6.0/9.0, 7/10, or 9/12

OTHER ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's/Maitrise
  • Dental degree
  • Medical degree

Fees and Funding

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees vary by programme and you can find the exact fee on the specific programme page on the prospectus for both undergraduates and graduates.

  • Average undergraduate tuition fees vary between £26,000 (CAD 45,014) - £37,500 (CAD 65,010)
  • Average graduate tuition fees vary between £28,100 (CAD 48,715) - £38,300 (CAD 66,386)

Living Costs

We know that you will want to carefully consider your finances when thinking of studying abroad, so we have created an overview of your potential living costs which we hope will help you plan and draw up a realistic budget.

Many of our students work part-time, and our Careers service and Student Union can help you find work. If you do plan to work, please ensure you’re abiding by the conditions of your visa.
