William Howie's Biography

William Howie
Dr Howie is Consultant in the Psychiatry of Intellectual Disabilities at South West London & St George's MH NHS Trust, and Honorary Tutor and examiner at St George's, University of London. Dr Howie is a UKCP registered systemic psychotherapist. He has completed research and service development in the areas of challenging behaviour, epilepsy in people with learning disabilities, experience of families with children with disabilities, experience of LGBT people with intellectual disabilities, culture and ethnicity, and osteoporosis risk in people with intellectual disabilities. Dr Howie is currently Principal Investigator in 2 national trials, DNA variation in people with intellectual disabilities and this trial of the clinical and cost effectiveness of Positive Behaviour Support.
