Clara Collet Departmental Scholarships

Clara Collet Scholarships (2023/24): UK/EU/Overseas, 4 years, fees and stipend 

The department offer 4-year PhD Scholarships to prospective PhD candidates starting in 2024 for UK and EU/Overseas students. The Scholarship covers full fees and a stipend of approx.*£20,622

The 4 years of funding are either for students arriving with a Master's degree, or for students wishing to first pursue a Masters within the department followed by a 3-year PhD programme.

The fellowships are made solely based on academic merit and research potential and include a teaching requirement in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years for a total of 180 hours per annum (this includes both contact and non-contact hours and is line with research council scholarships)  In year 1, the student contributes to teaching for 110 hours (training and second marking only).

Although the deadline is 30th April 2024, applications for Departmental grants are more competitive if submitted by 8th December 2023 (as they are considered by committee in January 2024)


Departmental Teaching Assistantships

All PhD students who are registered on the Department's PhD programme and who have successfully completed the first year in the programme are eligible to apply for a Departmental Teaching Assistantship. All eligible PhD students are considered for these positions. The duties of a Teaching Assistant include seminar teaching and coursework/examination marking.
