The aim of this project is to how eating disorders specifically affect athletes. Specifically, the project will look at how we can better understand the shift from sport being an enjoyable endeavour to something that can act as a trigger for eating disorder development. I will also explore ways to minimise the chance of eating disorder relapse by understanding what needs to shift psychologically during treatment for athletes to return to their sport safely. As an overall aspiration, I hope to tie together the world of sport psychology research and clinical psychology research to fill in a current void in the literature.
