UserVoice

History of User Voice:
'We believe that the fundamental issue that causes the stubbornly high rates of re-offending and all the other associated problems is the ‘us vs. them’ culture. All the work User Voice has done suggests people want to talk to people who have ‘walked in their shoes’ and experienced similar life events.'

'At User Voice we build the structures that enable productive collaboration between   service users, service providers and commissioners. We are able to do this because our work is led and delivered by ex-offenders. This gives us the special ability to gain the trust of, access to, and insight from people with the lived experience.'

"User Voice's work is led and delivered by service users. This gives us the special ability to gain the trust of, access to, and insight from people within the criminal justice system. All the work User Voice has done suggests people with convictions want to talk to people who have ‘walked in their shoes’ and experienced similar life events. The involvement of service users in User Voice has many benefits, not least of which is the power of a narrative of success, motivating  people who often have little belief that they can overcome the barriers they face."

User Voice's role with MOAM:
Peer researchers have been trained to collect data from participants, this involves interviewing participants and administering questionnaires.

The Peer Researchers will be working alongside the Research Assistants from UCL across each of the thirteen sites  involved in the trial to engage, recruit and follow up participants over 24 months.
