Director and Executive Champion
I have been at UCL since I was 18 years old – first as an undergraduate and PhD student, and then as an academic, Clinical Psychologist and psychoanalyst. For the last two years I have been Head of the UCL Division of Psychology and Language Sciences, the Division where I started my own academic journey all those years ago.
I have been open about my own struggles as a young person, and how UCL taking a chance on me at a critical point transformed my life. I have made it my mission to spend my time as Head of Division doing everything in my power to give a similar chance to today’s students.
For change to happen, we need to get the right people around the table who are willing to make wellbeing a priority. In addition to my role at UCL, I am Chief Executive of the Anna Freud Centre for Children and Families, I lead the Integrated Mental Health programme at UCLPartners and I am a Senior National Clinical Adviser for NHS England. As PsychUP for Wellbeing’s Executive Champion, I see my role as engaging these and other professional networks to push forward innovation and change.
