Speaker: Michael Hornberger, University of East Anglia
In my talk I will present data showing how neurodegenerative lesion models (Alzheimer’s Disease, Frontotemporal Dementia) can be employed for the investigation of spatial navigation processes in the human brain. More specifically, I will show recent data showing how neurodegenerative syndromes and their prodromal forms show different allocentric and egocentric navigation patterns and how this relates to the underlying atrophy in these patients. I will discuss how the results inform better diagnosis and treatment of those patients and also theoretical models of spatial navigation.
