Participate in our research

We are working on a study which uses various methods to investigate emotional processing in young people 11-18 years old, and how emotional processing relates to mental health and wellbeing over time and in response to treatment programmes. We hope that this will contribute to our understanding of how best to help young people who are struggling, especially taking into account individual strengths and difficulties to offer the most helpful support.

It involves young people playing some games on their smartphones and answering some questions about their thoughts and feelings. If they are interested, some young people will also be able to come to the lab and have an MRI brain scan while watching a movie. All participating young people would be compensated for their time, participation is completely voluntary, and all data collected is kept confidential.

We primarily recruit via schools, so we are always keen to hear from schools that would be interested in helping us to advertise the study to students. We are also happy to hear from other community organisations that work with teenagers, as well as parents and young people who are interested in taking part.

If you have any further questions, please email us for more information at jessica.norman.21@ucl.ac.uk.

It contains some details about the study, and you can also supply your email address if you would like to be contacted with further details. Clicking the link or filling out the form does not commit you to taking part in the study, and we will only contact you if you consent for us to do so.
