James Thomas is a Professor of Social Research and Policy in the Institute of Education, University College London. Prof Thomas is also the Director of the Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Co-ordinating Centre (EPPI-Centre), which develops methods for systematic reviews and research syntheses with a view to informing policy and professional practice with sound evidence. Prof Thomas leads the development of the EPPI-Reviewer software, with a particular focus on qualitative and mixed methods reviews and use of emerging information technologies. James and his team are supporting the evidence synthesis work of the OPRU and are building a database of relevant research, using new machine learning and NLP technologies.
