Dr Florence Sheen (she/her) is a research fellow in the Obesity group at the Research Department of Behavioural Science and Health at UCL. Florence’s role in the Obesity Prevention Research Unit is to investigate parental feeding choices, including how labelling on infant food products influences purchasing choices by parents of young children. She is also investigating potential behavioural outcomes from the implementation of alcohol calorie labelling, how formula milk marketing influences decisions around infant feeding, and how to create inclusive public health messaging around weight.
Her research background is in the Psychology of Eating behaviour, and her PhD (University of Liverpool) focussed on the portion size effect, plate-clearing tendencies, and food waste concerns. Before her current role, Florence worked as a research fellow in Sensory and Ingestive Behaviour (A*STAR, Singapore), during which she explored motivations for following a flexitarian diet and ‘health halos’ surrounding alternative protein products.
