New funding schemes for undergraduates undertaking international opportunities this summer

UCL Study Abroad are happy to announce two new funding schemes to support certain international opportunities over the summer.

Globe Undergraduate students may be eligible to apply for a bursary through the two new schemes - ACU Global Summer Grants and Santander Universities Mobility Bursary. Read on to find out if you're eligible.

ACU Global Summer Grants:

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) is offering grants for undergraduate students from ACU member universities in the UK to attend certain summer schools during summer 2018.

How much is available?

Up to £2,000

Who is eligible?

Grants are available to students who meet all three of these criteria:

  • Be registered on an undergraduate course
  • Be ordinarily resident in the UK
  • Have been assessed for student finance for the 2017-18 academic year

In addition, students must also meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Be from a family with a combined annual parental income of under £25,000
  • Be the first person in their family to go to university
  • Be from a postcode which has a quintile 1 or 2 low HE participation rate as defined by HEFCE. This can be checked at the HEFCE website.

How to apply

To apply, students must complete and submit an application form to Study Abroad (via study-abroad@ucl.ac.uk) by the deadline of 4pm on Friday 16th February 2018.

The UCL Study Abroad team will assess all eligible applications before nominating a maximum of two candidates to the ACU. The ACU will then assess all nominees before making final decisions and bursary allocations. Please note that the UCL students nominated to the ACU will not be guaranteed to receive the bursary and the decisions made by the ACU are final.

Santander Universities Mobility Bursary

In collaboration with Santander Universities, UCL Study Abroad are able to offer a new bursary to support non-finalist undergraduate students wishing to undertake short-term opportunities in the Americas over the summer of 2018.

How much is available?

Successful applicants will be awarded a bursary of £650. A total of 30 bursaries are available.

Who is eligible?

Non-finalist undergraduate students who will be undertaking relevant international opportunities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay or the USA.

How to apply

To apply, students must complete an online application by the deadline of 4pm on the 30th March 2018.
