Meydum, seal impression of the 'treasurer' Psamtek
This or another 'treasurer' (imi-r xtmt) Psamtek is also known
from other sources, mainly from his tomb at Saqqara.
From the tomb, he is datable under king Amasis,
penultimate king of the 26th Dynasty. On this seal the cartouche contains the
name of a different king, Seheribra, perhaps a local ruler rebelling against
Achaemenid rule; if the sources all refer to one and the same treasurer Psamtek,
the rebel king must have ruled not too long after the fall of the 26th Dynasty,
because his treasurer would have been in that high position (so probably at
the end of his career) under Amasis already.
