Healing in Ancient Egypt

The evidence for healing in Ancient Egypt may be divided into four categories:

• skeletal and mummified remains
• titles of healers
• manuscripts written in cursive hieroglyphs or in hieratic (a still more cursive script derived from hieroglyphs)
• Reading a passage from an Ancient Egyptian healing manuscript
• caution on reading the Ancient Egyptian writings on health
