Department News, September 2022 Part 1

(1) Peter Hearnshaw passed his viva with minor corrections on 28^th September. His thesis, titled "Regularity of the density matrix for Coulombic wavefunctions", was supervised by Leonid Parnovski and Alex Sobolev. Congratulations Dr Hearnshaw!

(2) We have just heard that UCL is one of the institutions that has been awarded the Meteorological Office Academic Partnership. This is a major achievement and involves several staff across Maths, Stats and other departments; we are involved in two streams, "Hazard to Decision Making" and "Fusing Simulation Data Sciences". This work has involved Timo Betcke, Andrea Macrina, Hao Ni and Erik Burman.
