  1. The following students have passed their vivas:
    - Hui Gong, with a thesis titled "
    Automatic Trading using Stochastic Methods", supervised by Alvaro Cartea
    - Sebastian Bahamonde, with a thesis titled "
    Modified teleparallel theories of gravity", supervised by Christian G Boehmer
    Congratulations Dr Gong and Dr Bahamonde!

  2. Last summer Luciano Rila organised the IMA16+ lecture at UCL, showcasing mathematics for students aged 16-18. Videos of the lectures - and a short promotional clip featuring all of them - are now available on the UCL website:

  3. Andrea Macrina helped to organise the Financial Mathematics Team Challenge (FMTC) at the University of Cape Town (26 June - 6 July 2018). UCL Maths was well represented, with Holly Brannelly (PhD student) successfully leading one of the four teams. We also had four UCL FM MSc participants: William Black a member of this year's winning team (which worked on an industry-led problem) Aurore de Savigny, Yiran Wang and Yiying Wang.
