1. Congratulations to PhD student Alessandra Chrisafi for her success in the 'Morgan Stanley PhD Sponsorship Programme'. This is a prestigious programme and will enable Alessandra to spend 1 day per week working on a research project in a financial setting at Morgan Stanley with access to their data and systems. 

2. Undergraduates Naomi Kraushar, Mihai Barbu and Youness Barakat performed excellently in the International Mathematics Competition over the summer http://www.imc-math.org.uk/ . As a team they finished 40th, with Mihai obtaining a 'First Prize', Naomi a 'Third Prize' and Youness an 'Honorable Mention'. The team was very ably trained and mentored by PhD student Stephen Muirhead. Well done all!

3. Frank Smith is part of a scientific team who have been successful in a bid to host a Isaac Newton Institute programme 'Mathematics of Sea Ice Phenomena' Aug-Dec 2017.
