Promotions and New Appointments - March 2014

1. Many congratulations to Hiral Patel ('A dynamic model of international trade', supervisors Rob Seymour and Steve Baigent) and Tom Ashbee ('Dynamics and statistical mechanics of point vortices in bounded domains', supervisors Gavin Esler and Robb McDonald) for recently passing their PhD vivas. Well done Hiral and Tom!

2. I am pleased to announce the following new appointments:
(i) Dr Johannes Ruf will join the department in August 2014 as Senior Lecturer in Financial Mathematics. http://www.oxford-man.ox.ac.uk/~jruf/
(ii) Dr Lucio Guerberoff is to become the Department's first Clifford Fellow. He also starts in August 2014. http://www.math.ucla.edu/~guerberoff/

3. In collaboration with the Heilbronn Institute, the department has established a Fellowship which is presently being advertised (e.g.https://atsv7.wcn.co.uk/search_engine/jobs.cgi?owner=5041178&ownertype=fair&jcode=1405306)

The post is available to researchers in algebraic number theory or algebraic/arithmetic geometry and the successful applicant will spend 50% of their time in the department pursuing their own research interests.
